Brief introduction of my project
The proposal is effective web tool to foster and stimulate the communication and management of art on the internet.
My proposal is build an innovative and experimental online website tools for art galleries. In my opinion, art is not a paper draw or a blunt stone on the websites that it is a life. So, for art websites, I think they can be created more verity and vivid by some of software tools and ideas. It will attractive more art enthusiasts and artists. Moreover, business is important for art galleries. Customers can use auction online tool with the live of bidding block. It is easy to join in and get customers’ want.
First of all, the art galleries online platform should use three-dimensional (3D) in the interface and online exhibition that makes online art galleries more interesting and attractive.
Secondly, E-commerce should include online auction tool and buy or sell pictures on the platform that is E-commerce tool. Some of participator can not join in live of bidding block that they do not want to miss some products. So the online auction tool is very important and convenient for them. Buy/Sell tool is easy to communication with artists and gallery’s staff. It will be convenient for customers and artists.
Thirdly, Message Tool. This tool can sent some messages to customers. For example, they should get messages about when /where has the bidding block; the news about art and artists has; and who want to contact with you. Of course, audience can cancel these messages; it depends who take the relevant boxes.
Fourthly, Link tool can exploit bigger market for art. It can link to other art galleries websites, other projects of art and some references. Lots of information about art should be linked. It will be extent much more art market.
Fifth, Search tool is very important for online art gallery. In the website, user can use a huge search system for research artists, pictures, pictures’ title, and art galleries. For the art websites, the conspicuous search is by color. Users can search some pictures which are they like by color; it is easy to find pictures and manage them.
Finally, Technical support. To build the online platform should use some software, Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and 3D MAX. We should use Flash to make advertisement and some interesting products for art galleries. Photoshop is used by repair art products and make some pictures. Dreamweaver should be used in make websites, link to other source and online platform’s format. 3D MAX is a fantastic tool for make 3D environment of online exhibition. It will make art products more visual and attractive users. The art galleries online platform should be made by HTML, JAVA and XML language.

Requirement
1.	Technical software—Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, 3D MAX,
2.	Language program---HTML, JAVA and XML
3.	3D exhibition----attractive customers
4.	Online business—auction and buy/sell
5.	Online video
6.	Huge search system
7.	Easy control and manage
8.	Convenient communication between artists and manager for sell and buy.
9.	Link to more sources about art and art galleries.
10.	Get top news
11.	Contact artists and get more art products

Audience
The audiences are artists and art enthusiasts. They can view many pictures, see the online exhibition, buy and sell pictures, search any art products they like, and communication with other artists or art enthusiasts.
Any person can browse the art websites and view the products or see the online exhibition, but they can not doing any business in the some of art websites. They should register, and then they can do part of business. For the business tool, it has different levels for audiences. Art websites should have credits for each audience, if the credit is high, the audience can use online auction tool or invite the audience to presence the live of auction and discount for some products when they buying. How much business they can do it depends how many credits they have in the art websites platform.
If audience wants to get more credits in the platform, they should evaluate some art products or upload their products and they also can write some articles about art.

Function
There are many functions of art websites’ tools
1. Users can register to art websites
2. Users can do auction online
3. Users can sell and buy pictures
4. Users can search many pictures, art galleries, museums, and artists.
5. Users can see exhibition online.
6. Users can get many messages about art
7. Users can get information about when/where will have exhibition or auction.
8. Users can contact art websites’ staff and do some business
9. Users can appraise many pictures
10. Users can communicate with other users or artists.
11. Users can upload their art design and can get suggestion form other users.

Budget and Deadline
There is a financial cost list and duration for this aspect of the project.

Research & Case study
I did lots of research and get the inspiration.
First of all, I found website that make pictures in 3D environment. The website is “My Pictures 3D” (http://www.mypictures3d.com) this website has many pictures of art galleries. It gets true aesthetic pleasure from visiting the art gallery coming with the website in 3Denvironment. In the “Galleries” interface, it is designed a gallery floor, many main art produces in the page.
This is a 3D environment art gallery online platform.

When I saw the interface, I think the exhibition is a good idea for an art web tools, so I think if the online exhibition like a real gallery that will be better for user. User can get a clear view to find their like and can click the art products to get more information. I think audience does not want to view art just from a complication website, they want to more attractive and more visual for their eyes. So I think if we use 3D software tools make the interface is interesting, it will be attractive more audiences and better to view art sculpture.

Secondly, “Artlx.com” (http://www.artlx.com) website has a great search tool. All of research information is about art. The website has a huge search tools. So I think art websites should have a search tool for users. They can research lots of information about art that is easy to find and convenient to use. But the problem about the website (artlx.com) that it does not have online exhibition, just have a big search tool. Users only can search art information, and link to other websites. It is an art search website.
I got an idea about search tool. A lot of audiences like some of colors; they want to have these colors in the picture. So if the search tool should use color to classify pictures that users will easy to find what they like are.

Finally, I got a source of the “art.co.uk” (www.art.co.uk). This is an art shopping online website. Users can do business online and can get some art products they like. The website online business tool is great and successful for users. It has 4 steps for buy art products. Step 1: choose users’ wall colors, which can see the picture fit in the wall or not. Step 2: users can choose frames for pictures. Step3: choose how many mats would user like. Step 4: choose glazing for the picture. And then users finished these steps that will turn to payment page. It is a pure online business tool of art.
This is a screenshot for shopping on the website.

From the website, I got an idea about online business tool for some art websites. The business tool is just a part of art websites, it not a business websites. But users want to get some business activity from some of art website. The problems about users are: 1. some of participator can not join in live of bidding block that they do not want to miss some products. 2. Moreover, some artists want to have more extended market for her/his talent, they want to sell their art products and get more experience and money. From the customers’ point, they want to buy some art products online that is easy and convenient.
So the online business tool is convenient for users and has a communication environment between buyers and sellers.
Based on audience like, the online business tool should have online auction and buy/sell business activity. Audience can use online auction to get some of art what they want. So the online auction system is very important and convenient for them. Online Buy/Sell is easy to communication with artists and gallery’s staff. It will extent art market and convenient for customers and artists.

Idea& Inspiration
My original idea comes from the handout of Joasia gave us. It is about new media. I read the handout of new media, which have 5 characteristics of new media. Immersion is a part of the 5 characteristics. The definition is the experience of entering into the simulation or suggestion of a three dimensional (3D) environment. So, I think 3D technology will be broad use in new media.
For the online action tool, the original idea is from the live of action, some participators can not come to the action that their friends instead of them. But sometimes their friends can not understand how much they want to get the picture or when they should give up. So I think if the participators can do the action by self, they also can use internet to do action. It is convenient and easy to get their want.
Online buy/sell, the idea comes from “EYESTOM” website (http://www.eyestorm.com/). The website has buy/sell online service that is very popular for audiences. So I think the online business tool is helpful for art online platform.

Share& Develop
1.	Technical develop. Art galleries online platform should use technical support to build. I found this website may help my project. This website is a business website for sell software of art. The Masterpiece Business Manager (http://www.masterpiecemanager.com/) is a comprehensive point of sale and business management software system designed for businesses with consigned and owned inventory. The perfect software for Art Galleries. It provides easy to use screens with unparalleled reporting power. The website can support technical software, technical staff can use it to build and create many tools for art gallery online platform.
2.	Other projects source. I found a website have a project for develop art. The aim to create the opportunity for 20 artists from the some countries to work together intensively over two 3 day workshops. The workshops are intended to assist in the development of at least one fully collaborative project which could tour in each country, as well as learn from and share ideas with artists. The project address is http://www.hitn.co.uk/Networkprojects.html. We can see specific art project.
3.	Secure e-commerce. For develop art online platform, the e-commerce should have security protect. I searched a company doing business for art secure e-commerce website that is “ARTLOGIC”. This company can protect users’ databases when users are doing e-commerce online that users can do the e-commerce online and feel free. It can develop art galleries online e-commerce. The company’s website is http://www.artlogic.net/ .

Mind map
This is my mind map for the proposal.

My original idea comes from the handout of Joasia gave us. It is about new media. I read the handout of new media, which have 5 characteristics of new media. Immersion is a part of the 5 characteristics. The definition is the experience of entering into the simulation or suggestion of a three dimensional (3D) environment. So, I think 3D will be broad use in new media.

 Comments

Assignment: Application of Media in creative context [50% o the overall module mark)

Specification: This is an individual and non-implementation project articulated through paper based design proposal. The main objective is to explore the design process considering all the stages of development other than technical implementation in response to the brief below. It will help you to use and include the following elements/methods in your submission – you may of course add any other element/method that you have used to establish your design. URL’s are provided as a starting point.

Brief: ARTE 2.0 VOCENTO: the art of exhibiting art online

The assignment requires you to produce a proposal for innovative and experimental online platform or effective web tool to foster and stimulate the presence, exhibition, communication and management of art on the Internet. The proposal is to provide art galleries with web solutions responding to the concept of Web 2.0, and to provide opportunities to enhance their online presence and networking potential.

The assignments aims to encourage research and innovation in the field of social technologies and artistic practice, and more specifically to identify current needs and provide suitable solutions for art galleries in the context of the Internet. The proposal, a complete web concept, or environment, or tool, will be a hypothetical application to be implemented by art galleries.

Elements to be included in the proposal

Mind maps - brainstorm the possibilities, identify related works/interfaces/approaches
http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=mind+map&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi&oi=property_suggestions&resnum=0&ct=property-revision&cd=1

Case Studies - provide examples from the authoring tools you have used during the module, features that are useful or misleading, features that are effective, identify alternatives – http://search.techrepublic.com.com/search/authoring+system.html

Flow Diagrams - use a flow diagram to explore interaction between elements, navigation of content, use of features, interaction and feedback.
http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&q=flow+diagram&btnG=Search+Images

Research – investigate and critique related examples (encountered in the lecture program for instance)

Design / Mood board – how would the interface look and feel, how does interaction work, what methods do you use, we looked at a range of examples with specific audiences/applications in mind! Consider; how does the user participate and navigate, what feedback/help/guidance methods would work best for your target audience…
http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=gui+design&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&q=mood+board+interface&btnG=Search+Images

Storyboard – outline the stages of project, what does the user see/hear/do
http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&q=storyboard&btnG=Search+Images

Evaluation – provide an objective write up of your design process, how your approach is effective, potential improvements/alternative solutions. Also consider the level to which you investigated each stage of the process – could you give your paper based design to a developer to implement it – what information is missing, how could you provide that information?

NB: The important thing is that you demonstrate a rigorous approach to problem solving through a visual design process, your submission should not rely to heavily on one media type! Avoid producing a dense text based document when all the above methods would communicate your design process and your design solution more effectively.
